Key Member Spotlight: Janine & Joel Coleman
Since 2018, Janine and Joel have faithfully invested in the mission of Miriam's House through their monthly giving. As members of The Key, their ongoing generosity has helped provide stability, hope, and housing for families experiencing homelessness throughout our community. We sat down with Janine to learn more about what inspires their commitment to ending homelessness.
MIRIAM’S HOUSE (MH): TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOURSELVES!
Janine: Joel and I have called Lynchburg home since graduating from LU. We’ve loved making Lynchburg our home and think our little city is pretty great. Joel is a managing photographer at LU, and I am a self-employed graphic designer and photographer.
With so many incredible nonprofits in our community, what made you choose to support Miriam’s House?
A dear friend of mine worked at Miriam’s House years ago and introduced me to the organization. Support and shelter are necessary for human flourishing. We’re so grateful that we can support an organization in our local community that provides these fundamental qualities.
WHY DO YOU CHOOSE TO GIVE MONTHLY?
As part of our faith, we choose to give to organizations that we feel are the hands and feet of Jesus.
ANYTHING ELSE YOU WOULD LIKE TO SHARE WITH THE BROADER COMMUNITY TO INSPIRE THEM TO JOIN THE KEY?
Even a little can add up. Giving Miriam’s House consistent monthly donations helps ensure that they are supported so they can continue supporting others.
WHEN NOT HELPING TO END HOMELESSNESS IN LYNCHBURG, We CAN BE FOUND…
frequenting the local restaurant scene, playing mahjong, and pursuing various creative endeavors!
Members of The Key, like Janine and Joel, provide the steady, dependable support that allows Miriam's House to respond when families need us most. Their generosity is helping unlock safety, independence, and opportunity for families throughout our community, and we are incredibly grateful.
