Facility Support Staff (Part-Time, Summer Position)

Miriam’s House is seeking a dependable, mission-driven individual to join our team this summer as a Seasonal Part-Time Facility Support Staff member at our Family Shelter.

About the Role

The Facility Support Staff plays a critical role in creating a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for families experiencing homelessness. This position supports the daily operations of our Family Shelter by maintaining facility cleanliness, organizing and managing in-kind donations, and assisting with the overall upkeep and functionality of the building.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who values meaningful work and wants to contribute in a hands-on way to supporting families during a critical time in their lives.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform daily cleaning and sanitizing of common areas, bathrooms, offices, and family spaces

• Maintain organized storage areas and assist with sorting and managing donated items

• Support general facility upkeep and report maintenance needs

• Ensure the shelter environment remains welcoming and dignified for residents and visitors

• Work independently while coordinating with shelter staff as needed

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred

• Previous custodial, janitorial, or facility maintenance experience preferred

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks including bending, standing, climbing stairs, and extended walking

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

• Sensitivity to and understanding of individuals experiencing homelessness or trauma

• Strong communication skills and healthy relationship boundaries

• Training in conflict resolution (or willingness to be trained)

Schedule & Compensation

• 28 hours per week

• Includes evenings and weekends

• Temporary six-week position: June 8 – July 18, 2026

• $17.00 per hour
