Businesses Who Give Back: Highlighting Ford Mays Wealth Management
At Miriam’s House, we’re fortunate to partner with community-minded businesses who not only invest in their own success but also pour back into the place we all call home. One shining example is Ford Mays Wealth Management, a longtime supporter of Miriam’s House events—including Coldest Night of the Year, Home for the Holidays, and most recently, our Annual Luncheon. This year, Ford’s generous luncheon sponsorship earned him a spot in our new Businesses Who Give Back series, and we couldn’t be more excited to share his story.
We asked Ford a few questions about his work, his passion for giving back, and what inspires him. Here’s what he had to say:
MIRIAM’s HOUSE: Tell us a little about Ford Mays Wealth Management and what drives the work you do.
Ford Mays: We will be 44 years old on 10/7/2025. I started this company to make a living. I now stay in this business to make a difference! What drives us is the honest belief that everyone we meet with, we can help. Also, this community has supported us for 44 years and back in 2007 we made a conscious effort to give back!
What inspires your ongoing commitment to our mission?
Miriam’s House provides people initially with the (3) necessities of life—food, shelter, and clothing. Those basic needs have to be met before anything else can happen.
What does “giving back” mean to you?
Giving back is the absolute core reason of why I get up every morning. There is no greater gift in life than the gift of money for a wonderful cause or the gift of your time for that cause if you don’t happen to have much money. Charities need both; they need money and they need worker bees! Whether its Jeni and I on the personal side or Ford Mays Wealth Management on the Business, it’s all the same. Simply put, people and organizations need our help and that’s what we will always do.
Are there particular causes or issues you’re passionate about?
I’m passionate about causes for children, the elderly, the homeless, the hungry, and animals!
What advice would you give to other businesses that want to make an impact?
My advice is to just get started. You have to start somewhere. I live by the sayings, ‘if not me, who?’ and ‘if not now, when?’ Pick something that you’re passionate about and get involved. This community needs your help. I think we have approximately 155 nonprofits in this community, so there is something for every business who wants to help!
Just for fun—what’s something people might not know about you or your team?
We use a lot of acronyms like FITB (fire in the belly), SOU (sense of urgency), and our favorite is BDCD (brew dog countdown), which is every Friday at 4:00! Time to go home and have fun!
Anything else you’d like to share?
This community desperately needs our help. Hopefully one day you too can flip the switch and go from living in a ME world to living in a WE world. Once you do, your life and/or your business will change forever.
We couldn’t agree more. Thank you, Ford Mays Wealth Management, for your enduring partnership and your unwavering commitment to making a difference in our community.
