Miriam's House is a residence for homeless women
living with AIDS, including some who have children.
Compassionate attention is given to the housing,
medical, personal and spiritual needs of our
residents.
Miriam's House offers
comprehensive services and support for recovery and
sobriety. These services support a transitional
program for women who recover health and move on to
independent living. Miriam's House also serves as a
hospice for women who are living their last days.
In-house services include
addiction counseling, secondary medical care,
respite care for mothers, support groups, financial
counseling, personal care aide, transportation to
appointments, and the loving support of a
compassionate community.
Off-site services include
physical, occupational, and speech therapies,
medical care, counseling, acupuncture and
alternative therapies, adult HIV/AIDS daycare, and
NA/AA meetings.
Miriam's House has been recognized for it's
outstanding service to the Greater Washington, DC
area. They were awarded the Washington Post
Award for
Excellence in Non-Profit Management in
2003.
Most recently, Miriam's House was selected for the
2005 Catalogue
for Philanthropy.
